San Francisco Radio Broadcasting School by Radio Connection

One of the best ways to break into radio in San Francisco is to apprentice (extern) in a real San Francisco radio station. That’s where we come in.

Why spend 10, 20, 30, or even 50 thousand dollars to attend radio school in a college or trade school classroom? We can put you in the heart of the action, in a real radio station, for a fraction of that amount. Get on the inside track, and get connected to the radio industry by learning from inside it. Our radio school can put you there affordably and effectively.

While itself home to about 800,000 people, San Francisco is the anchor city for a the sprawling San Francisco Bay Area–an 11-country metropolitan area of over 7 million people, including the cities of Oakland, San Jose, San Mateo, Fremont, Santa Clara, Hayward and many others. Arbitron ranks this area the nation’s fourth largest radio market, as demonstrated by the dozens of high-powered radio stations scattered across the area. Several stations broadcasting in Pop Contemporary and Adult Contemporary formats compete for top market share, including KYLD (Wild 94.9 FM), KOIT (96.5 FM) and KMVQ (NOW 99.7 FM); other popular stations include KMEL 106.1 FM (Hip Hop) and KCBS (740-AM and 106.9-FM, News/Talk).

San Francisco and vicinity are home to two major league baseball teams (San Francisco Giants, Oakland A’s) and two NFL teams (San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders), as well as several other major sports teams. Many celebrities have had ties to San Francisco, including Natalie Wood, Clint Eastwood, Jerry Garcia, Carlos Santana, and many, many others.

If you dream of a career as a talk show host, sportscaster, radio DJ, programming director or other radio discipline, one of the best ways to do it is to get plugged directly into the radio industry–and the RADIO CONNECTION can help you do this by placing you there as an apprentice (extern).

Our advantage is our mentor-apprentice (extern) approach. Instead of placing you in an isolated classroom or studio facility, we place you as a working apprentice (extern) inside a real radio broadcasting facility, where you are instructed and mentored one-on-one by a seasoned, successful radio pro. This gives you not only a well-rounded education in radio (not to mention plenty of work experience), but also the chance to meet and connect with many other radio industry pros–giving you a solid advantage when job openings occur. Over 70 percent of our graduates go on to successful industry careers, and many get hired by the stations where they were trained. You owe it to yourself to see what our San Francisco radio school can do for you.
