Xander Tennent has worked in many different departments within the film industry, including script supervision, art PA, editing, directing and more. As a graduate of the Los Angeles Film School, where he says he “learned the true price of trade school,” Xander is passionate about offering a more effective, low-cost alternative to RRFCC students. “I enjoy connecting our students with mentors who will know how to engage them and help them with their career,” he says.

Since studying music production and engineering at the Musicians Institute, Jon Allyn is today a busy music industry professional who spends much of his time producing and recording local artists as well as producing independent film scores. As an RRFCC admissions counselor, Jon is able to bring firsthand knowledge of the industry to students who are trying to break into the business, placing them with mentors who are able to help them get where they want to go.

A New Jersey native who graduated from The Los Angeles Recording School, Benjamin Stewart has extensive industry experience, having done everything from sound design for Tribeca-featured films to composing music for Ashton Kutcher’s Katalyst Media to engineering podcasts for Kevin Smith and Ralph Garmin. As the Head of Admissions at RRFCC, Ben brings a unique combination of education and real-world experience to his job, and he’s a proud advocate for mentor-apprentice training. When he’s not in the office by day, you can find him many evenings at the world-famous Hollywood Improv, where he does live sound and lighting for some of the best comedians on the planet.

Having worked in almost all facets of film production on both coasts (doing everything from set dressing and props to casting), Thomas Hogeland has a wide range of real-world experience spanning more than a decade. As an RRFCC admissions counselor, Thomas loves helping students achieve their dreams with a unique combination of one-on-one training, real-world experience and the practical education that only mentor-apprentice learning can offer.

After earning two degrees from Full Sail University (an associate’s degree in Recording Arts and a bachelor’s degree in Entertainment Business), Nelson Melara returned to the DC-area (where he is from) to work as an event operations manager and cultural arts specialist. His work experience has enabled him to work with Grammy-nominated artists and major exhibitions, giving him a well-rounded level of expertise in the industry. As an RRFC admissions counselor, Nelson is excited to do his part in connecting tomorrows industry leaders with mentors who can help them advance their careers.

Blake Lampkin is an active producer in the L.A. music scene, producing music for singers, rappers and other up-and-comers in music, as well as working on audio for video and film. As a former apprentice right out of high school with Chris Brown from Rebel Genius collective, Blake understands firsthand the importance of having a mentor in this business and how it contributes to your success. He brings this passion to his work as an RRFCC admissions counselor, and loves helping to prepare students for their careers while enabling them to avoid some the mistakes he made along the way.

After initially studying music composition at the University of Denver, Greg Tariloff made the move to Los Angeles to study music production and audio engineering at the Los Angeles Recording School. He’s an active participant in the music industry scene today, both in producing and recording. Current projects include a debut album for hip-hop artist Sky King, as well as projects for his band, Ownestone, and tracks recorded under his solo moniker, Grey Matters. As an admissions counselor for RRFCC, he says the greatest reward is in “seeing success stories being made out of what starts as a simple conversation about the world of art.”

Russell Knight is a busy freelance engineer in the Los Angeles area, working primarily in film post-production. He’s had the opportunity to work on several major films such as The Brass Teapot, Atlas Shrugged Part 2 and Silent Night, working with the likes of Tim Robbins, Rosario Dawson, Billy Bob Thornton and others. A firm believer in one-on-one apprenticeships, he loves connecting RRFCC students with mentors who can help them advance their careers. “I want every student that I talk to to become a success story,” he says.

Born in San Gabriel, California, Dennis has been playing music since age 7. His instruments include violin, piano, and guitar. Dennis played in the Hollywood scene for years before studying copyright law at the Musician’s Institute in Hollywood. After attending SAE for music production, Dennis began producing artists in genres ranging from Metal to Hip-Hop. He is currently pursuing a solo career of his own and he ardently believes in the mission of the program. “The Recording Connection is the only program that shows students what this industry is all about. I’ll share my knowledge to better the careers of our future students.”
