I Learned a more extensive walk around the board this week. Now I'm mostly confident in being able to run the board alone, as well i also learned how to do traffic bulk feeds. I also watched one of the jocks record a couple commercial spots which was very fun to watch. I'M IN A REAL RADIO STATION learning !!!
This week they had me segue up the ryan seacrest show , and also put me in charge of doing his daily promos for next days shows. I am also being taught the mix board so I can be a board op for them. I also did a little work in their scheduling program that they use to know how and when to play a track.
This week they had me dub in a lot fillers for their internet stream. I got to meet a cassie the new singer from LIL Wayne's featured single official girl. I also learned a lot in Nexgen (Program that runs the stations music). And towards the end of the week I was just starting to get into voice tracking for their HD 2 channel "club phusion". RADIO CONNECTION got me here.
Kristen Kuyatt
RADIO STUDENT - TAMPA, FLORIDA
The morning announcer asked me to be his creative assistant. I'm in because of this progam.
I met with my mentor at the Power 105.1 station in NYC from 5-6PM and was once again able to sit-in on and observe the last hour of his afternoon show.I was able to help him screen some calls and learned how to edit them to be played on the air. I also spoke to callers who were concert ticket contest winners and acted as my mentor's phone producer, explaining the rules and details of their prize and taking down all of the winner's personal information for the Promotions Department. Finally, I compared the advertisement logs to when they played/were supposed to play on air, and checked them off for accuracy. I'm actually in a real radio station learning from a professional.

I did commercial reading practice, and learned about recording equipment. I'm getting about 10-12 hours a week in the station. My mentor is a real radio professional and I am learning directly from him.
I just did lesson 5, and man my mentor is great. He's been showing me the ropes and has been introducing me to the big shots in the station.

I was talking to all the guys back stage at a football game we were broadcasting, learning from all aspects of radio. I was even put on the air for a couple of hours with my mentor. Now I am getting paid. I got hired where I trained. In a real radio station. Im in 50s. If I can do this, you can do this.

I have my own board chips, I'm on the air daily. It's a great station and a great work station. I'm in the door of a real radio station and working thanks to the Radio Connection program.
RADIO CONNECTION STUDENT - WASHINGTON D.C.
I've been on air quite a bit, I was put on the air an hour after I met my mentor for a few minutes. It was cool. It's crazy how fast things happen in this business. No time for real school. This program puts you in the door. The rest is up to you.
