MINNEAPOLIS RADIO SCHOOL

MINNEAPOLIS, MN is probably best known for the Mall of
America, the huge 4.2 million square-foot mall that is complete with an
indoor amusement park that features Camp Snoopy. Minneapolis is also
home to many attractions including art museums, a zoo, sculpture
gardens and a science museum. The Malcolm E. Willey House is was
designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright in the 1930s, now part of the
National Register of Historic Places.
Sports fans should be sure to see a game at the Metrodome, home to the
Vikings, Twins and University of Minnesota Gopher's football team. The
Minneapolis-St. Paul area is also renowned for its theater; catching a
children's show is a must with the Children's Theatre Company in
Minneapolis, while the Minneapolis Aquatennial is a hip summer festival
with more than 70 events including milk carton boat races and the
famous Torchlight Parade, the third week of July every year. And during
the last week in August the Minnesota Fringe Festival features hundreds
of music, dance and theater performances. The Mary Tyler Moore Show is
a famous American television sitcom that was filmed in Minnespolis.
Even though the Twin Cities may not have as much of a nightlife as New
York or Los Angeles, the Minneapolis bars are pretty cool, including
the famous Nye's Bar & Polonaise Room in the heart of Minneapolis,
featuring Polish food, live polka music, glittering gold booths and
1960s décor have made this bar popular for anyone in their 20s
to 120s.
And then there is always Lyle's Bar and Restaurant which has been
nicknamed "Liquor Lyle's," because this place is here to get patrons
rip-roaring drunk.
For anyone who wants to be a radio announcer, Minneapolis is a good
place to start because the city is number 16 on the Arbitron
ratings list of the top 50 radio stations nationwide, and there are
plenty of radio stations there for students interested in learning how
to be a DJ. For many years WCCO radio was the most popular
broadcaster in the region but it was eventually pushed down by KQRS, a
classic rock station with a popular morning show. KTIS 98.5 has
recently leaped onto the morning show scene with over 250,000
listeners, and the station is number 5 overall in the Twin Cities
market.
