with space travel challenges (“Houston we have a problem”) and the

With over 50 AM and FM radio stations running the gamut from talk to sports to religious to country, rock, pop, soul, rap, r&b, blues and jazz with programming in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, Tagalog, Indian and Pakistani, Houston offers a wide variety of career opportunities for students dreaming of a career in radio. MASA is designed to deliver that dream. The mentor apprentice approach of MASA gets the student inside the doors of a real Houston radio station, and puts them in direct contact with their mentor, a working radio professional at that station, who will train them individually, on a one-on-one basis, in the skills they need to be a DJ, a commercial voice over announcer, a program director or an audio engineer.
Because RADIO CONNECTION students’ classroom is a real radio station, they will meet many radio professionals—contacts that will prove to be valuable in the years to come.
