DETROIT, MICHIGAN is the 11th largest DMA in the country. With a large, but unreported Canadian audience across the border, Detroit’s actual DMA is no doubt larger than attributed. One great trivia fact about Detroit is that you have to drive south from there to reach Canada. The city is home to the Detroit Pistons (NBA), the Detroit Lions (NFL), the Detroit Tigers (MLB) and the Detroit Red Wings (NHL). Among our favorite Detroit Radio Stations are these: WDET 101.9FM, HOT 102.7 and FM 98 WJLB
Detroit is the 10th largest radio market (ADI) in the U.S. and this ranking does not include the Canadian audience. Casey Kasem got his start in Detroit. Both geography and demographics make Detroit a fabulous location for RADIO CONNECTION’s Radio Broadcasting School. Opportunities abound for the RADIO CONNECTION student wanting a career in Radio, whether it be as a DJ, commercial voice over announcer, sports announcer or play-by-play man, radio studio engineer or remote engineer, program director, or even the sales and marketing side of the business.
RADIO CONNECTION will get you in the door of one of your favorite Detroit Radio Stations, and hook you up with a mentor from that station to teach you, one a one-on-one, on-the-job basis in the radio station, all the skills you need to live your dream in Radio. As you apprentice, work and learn, you will also build up a list of radio industry connections and contacts, so that by the time you graduate there’s a great chance you will also have a job offer—either from your mentor, or from someone else you ran across during your apprenticeship.
